Ask HN: Career success in a small town, remote working
Given four shifts in society: 1) StarLink (high speed, lower cost, anywhere broadband) 2) Corona virus company changes to accept remote working 3) Perceived higher quality of life in smaller towns 4) Affordable/low cost housing in these areas (1Euro homes with towns inviting people to come and renovate decrepit buildings)
What does HN think will happen to small villages/towns/hamlets as young professionals move away from cities as they have good career prospects being remote?
Secondly, how will these professionals/craftspeople/creators network effectively if they are not in a city? Will we see a rise in: - curated/selective networking opportunities at retreat style conferences - online opportunities to meet up, meet random people in your field and adjacent
This has been bugging me for a while and would love some input!
