Tell HN: Launching a side project? Remember to sanity check production
Major facepalm moment for me today.
I launched https://www.visualoffice.app/ a few weeks ago, got a few trials coming through. I then was approved for the Slack app directory, after a brief rejection regarding oauth permissions, and then celebrated.
Then crickets, despite my best efforts. No trials for 12 days, despite some traffic to the landing page. Today I decided to fully test the onboarding in production, because I am sending it to a few people I respect for feedback.
Turns out... the entire installation experience was broken!
Just a friendly reminder to test your production sign up experience a bit more often than you think :)
