Ask HN: How do you manage multilingual Slack workspaces?
How do you manage a multilingual Slack workspace where some members only know a single language? In some cases it's straightforward to define a language per channel, but what do you do with channels like #general?
To add some context on my personal pain points:
I've been working mostly with Middle Eastern teams and usually there's a mix of Arabic and English (and sometimes other languages as well), and for some roles like customer support you don't really need to know English and your entire job will require you to be interacting with Arabic only.
An example of where it starts to get messy is when a customer support teammate is trying to report an issue a customer is facing it'll mostly be in Arabic and usually a Slack thread will start there with mostly Arabic replies but most of the dev or QA teams speak English only. What I and other teammates who know both languages have been trying to do is try and summarize the whole discussion in English at some point but this can become very time consuming.
Is there any process or framework that any of you know of or have applied that you think can be of help?
Thanks!
