Show HN: A site that shows you gift guides connecting products from Amazon
luxegift.coI like the simplicity of the layout, but I think one crucial data point is missing -- the price of each item that you're recommending!
If you add that, I think you'll find that you'll get some traffic via search engines. I would target specific subsets of people. Gifts for people who love pickles. Gifts for people who don't like cilantro. Gifts for people with goldfish. The common topics of dads and moms and children are already swamped with blog posts.

And yes I am looking to get into more specific niches but want a balance with enough search volume. Have you had any luck with keyword research and finding traffic to your site?

I am using Amazon's Product Advertising API to retrieve prices from Amazon. There are a few hoops to jump through in order to get access, but it's the most legitimate means of acquiring their pricing data, so that's why I took that route.
I have not done much keyword research at this time, but I definitely should. I get very little traffic currently -- but I do find the website useful for myself, so that's enough to keep it going!
