Ask HN: Dedicated GPU Server Providers?
I am looking for a GPU dedicated server provider under $150/month. Looking for at least a 2070 or better. If you go with AWS (like I did) and you forget to turn it off (like I did) they won't hesitate to charge you full price. For me that was a $700 surprise. Then you will discover how impossible talking to anyone at AWS is without a paid support plan. Two or three months later you may get your money back if you suffer through enough hours on hold with them after fighting through the non-paid customer service channels. So don't use AWS please, for me. You could try Parsec. They are specifically for gaming PCs. Sadly, if I'm remembering right they use AWS. You can set up billing alerts with AWS. I’d definitely recommend anyone using AWS set those up to avoid a surprise bill like you got. Considering they did have the hardware allocated to you it doesn’t really seem that unfair to me that you had to pay the bill. I have not found one. Typically they only sell time on big machines with 2-4 cards (or more) and even if not, the pricing is such that if you are doing anything for a number of months it becomes very attractive to buy outright and resell when done. The pricing scheme tells me most providers purchase when you start the lease. So for the cards and machine attached I usually see multiple grand a month. That is the trick: you need a machine with the card, and they only rent huge ones. If you just need a 2070 you could do it at home. The monthly bill would pay for the card in as little as 2mo. Hetzner have several servers in their server bidding system with GTX 1080's for around ~ 110 EUR / mo. Enter "GPU" into the search terms box. I know of ikoula, which has gtx 1070 servers available under your budget. Looks like they are even running a promo right now so it's even cheaper. Just remember to read small print etc Just do your own research tho. I don't remember hearing anything bad about them but at the same time I'm not endorsing either. 1080ti is around 3.5x of your monthly budget on eBay.
1070 is less than twice your monthly budget. Don't feed overpriced providers, get a card and stuff it into cheap motherboard. Scaleway is running Tesla P100s, only at €500 per month. https://www.scaleway.com/en/gpu-instances/
