Clearify the differences between security holes and stuff like XPrivacy

1 points by cosmos64 6 years ago · 0 comments · 1 min read

A friend of mine seems to be very confused about the differences between the potential benefits of some privacy oriented applications such as XPrivacy and the pure observation that something as security exploits still does exist.

He does seem to believe, that this kind of application can somehow prevent us from being affected by all different kind of memory-related security bugs and also potential issues in software like the very kernel, the firmware blobs or OpenSSL or even the hardware.

I tried to explain to him that those things are actually completely different topics while he is simply going on and explaining to me that "I have no clue about anything".
