Ask HN: Optimal legal entity for an OSS project on the benefits/hassle matrix?
Anyone have an opinion on which (if any) legal entity provides the best ratio of benefit : hassle for a smallish Open Source project that wants to accept donations, likely in multiple currencies (including crypto ones)?
501c3 seems like a big pain in the ass as far as paperwork, directors, etc.
An LLC actually looks like a reasonable option, but perhaps I'm missing something there.
Just not form one at all and have someone be the donations guy?
Just curious what people's experiences are.
