Liberapay is in trouble
medium.comI have been following this issue for a while, and I am happy to say that things are moving, but I'm also sad to say that some people are feeling uninspired by the movement here. I know that in terms of the money that we have been getting for our accounts (0.25 euro) is no big deal, but the big donation that we were giving, the person is leaving. Though not quite sure what level of "leaving" this is.
It may be OK in the end, but I'm disappointed that they are deciding to say "it is closing" when things haven't been anything like that from what I can see. I've seen similar problems with people going "oh my god the sky is falling" and making pretty overstated claims about things...
I never saw the amount of the donations as a limitation in the platform. Maybe the fact that it is so easy to setup many donations push donors to spread out their money too much? The amount of the donations was always the number one complaint I saw against getting donations through this platform...
Personally I don't think I want to use them anymore if they move away from recurring donations to giving it all at once, like the blog post suggests.
