Actually for me the main takeaway is he ran a sophisticated counterintelligence campaign. Maybe.
The article defends the hypothesis that Macron's cybersec team deliberately seeded the Russians with false information so three could discredit it when it was released.

Scanners commonly produce files with multiple layers as part of their OCR function. Layers are not proof of forgery. The same types of layers were present in Obama's birth certificate and the same faulty arguments were used when it came out.
