Ask HN: How much effort would you put in a game-AI competition?
We were discussing an idea that we shall organize small game-AI competitions among friends, one idea led to another, and we have started to talk about a site for everyone free to participate. I'd like to ask your input on how much community interest would be in these.
My worry is that everybody loves the idea of participating in such competition, but very few would spend time and energy to actually implement something. While writing a e.g. a Vindinium bot is less involved than a Kaggle competition, it obviously takes time and effort before one can show it to others.
The complexity can range from a Pong-like client, through a Risk-like board game, and even reach the low-end of Kaggle, e.g. with same data analytics. I assume the first on is an hour at most for an experienced dev, while a Risk client may take a day or two minimum.
Would you spend such amount of time in such competitions? Would it be worth for us to implement the infrastructure and game rules around it?
