About
Assaf Arkin, Los Angeles. Writing labnotes.org for 20+ years; the Weekend Reading newsletter comes out of it.I run Rentail (short-term retail space in shopping centers) and built Expense, a receipt tracker for freelancers. It files receipts from a photo, a PDF, or a forwarded email, logs mileage at IRS rates, and speaks MCP so Claude can do my filing. Expense began as a one-week, $9.20 in token costs experiment with DeepSeek; still going.
Interests: small software, boring stacks (TypeScript, Postgres, React Router), long-lived blogs, and giving AI agents narrow jobs with clear specs.
