Discoverability

You probably have great films but are left staring at film posters instead of engaging scenes.

Decisions

Too many choices will paralyse your brain with indecision. Limit your options to stay, move on, or saying 'fuck it, I'm gonna invest two hours in to this film' and hit the Open in Jellyfin button.

Nostalgia

Technology advanced so much we lost something with conveniences. Take it back with inconveniences.

No pause button

There is an Open in Jellyfin button and Jellyfin has a pause.

Shared experience

Netflix is all about you. Channels are shared. Everyone on your Jellyfin sees the same film at the same minute, so your library becomes something to talk about. In Ireland we had four channels, three were shit. Everyone watched and talked about the same films.

Incompetence

I'm an awful programmer and even worse designer, hand on my heart I will break something with every release. I will make you regret having recommended this plugin to your friends and family.

Tunarr and ErsatzTV already exist.

  • Build your own channels and schedules.
  • Watch on your Jellyfin TV app.
  • Runs as a separate server.

Teilifís Seán: less to do

  • A Jellyfin plugin. Nothing else to run.
  • No setup. Your library becomes channels.
  • Everyone sees the same thing at the same time.
  • Mostly direct play, so no transcoding all day.
  • Browser only.

Add the repository. Install. Restart.

Add its repository once and Jellyfin keeps it up to date.

Alpha. A pet project that has only ever run on my own server. It was built with a lot of help from AI tools, and it hasn't been properly code reviewed or tested on anyone else's setup. Expect rough edges, and tell me what breaks so I can ignore it and make excuses about how this is your fault somehow.

Install

  1. Dashboard → Plugins → Repositories: add the address.
  2. Catalog: install Teilifís Seán, then restart Jellyfin.
  3. Open it from the sidebar, the home tile or /TeilifisSean/.

You'd rather have a zip? Be awkward so.

  • Every release on CodeFloe has one.
  • Stop Jellyfin first, or it can crash on shutdown.
  • Swap the old TeilifisSean_* folder for the new one.
  • Start Jellyfin.
