Recognizing the helpful role that experimental challenge studies in healthy adult volunteers have played in development of certain vaccines, WHO convened a multi-disciplinary group of experts from across the world to discuss from different perspectives the concept of Human Challenge Studies for Covid-19. The Working Group was tasked to consider the feasibility, potential value and limitations of establishing a closely monitored human challenge model of experimental COVID-19 infection and illness in healthy young adult volunteers.
