A lot of people experience online friends "vanishing" without notice. A new nonprofit project tries to help prevent this issue and it's worth joining and supporting the project!

I think we have all been there. Someone we only know online suddenly vanish. No participation in normal activities, no reply to messages, and no way to get in touch with the person to figure out, what's going on.

A new nonprofit project called Alive or what? has lauched a new service to help combat this issue and I think it's a project worth using and help promoting!

It's a simple concept and solution.

You get a public status page at aliveorwhat.com which you share with your friends online. It shows your current "life status". Here's an example: John Doe

I have created my personal page at https://aliveorwhat.com/page/unixdigest.

You share your login credentials to aliveorwhat.com with a "guardian", someone you know in real life that you trust, like a family member. If something happens to you, like if you die or get hospitalized, your guardian can change your status page and write a message so all your Internet friends will know what has happened.

You can sign up for free without providing any personal information and test it for 24 hours. If you decide to stay, you only pay a one-time usage fee for a life time account.

Contrary to many so-called modern online services, in which many have begun to only use an email address for login, this project has a greater focus on security and as such there is NO "I forgot my password" feature.

Help promote this great project!

Have a good one!
