Shortcuts & Monthly Stats

You can now set custom keybindings in TypeQuicker and track your progress in our daily typing speed test

In this release, we've focused on adding more statistics & graphs to help users see progress visually and also making TypeQuicker more keyboard-friendly by adding keybindings for commonly used actions.

Typing speed test progress

We've added a few upgrades to our daily typing speed test. In addition to having a leaderboard of the top daily scores from all users, we've also added a way for you to see your progress for the month. After finishing a test, you will be able to see and compare your stats for that month!

We hope that this will make being consistent with the daily challenge more rewarding. We've added the following:

  • A calendar view that shows on which days you completed the daily challenge.
  • A line graph showing how your speed and accuracy have changed over the course of that month.

Quick access bar for topics

When practicing typing text snippets, many people didn't realize you can change topics - this was on us; our UI did not make it obvious. To make this easier, we've added a quick access bar to make changing topics much more convenient. When using the Snippets mode to practice, you can click Change to see all topics.

We've also added thousands of new text snippets. For example, for our "Books" topic, we have thousands of text snippets which we sourced from various copyright-free sources such as Project Gutenberg. In addition to snippets from books, we also have quotes, jokes and trivia! Typing practice can get a bit boring (especially if you're typing random words), so we hope that having a lot of topics to choose from will make it more interesting.

Adding Keybindings

Many users have asked that we add more shortcuts and make them customizable - we heard you so we've added support for shortcuts across the app. You can now set your own keybindings in settings.

To set your own keybindings, simply do the following:

Click on the Profile icon in the header -> Settings -> Keybindings

Annual progress chart on profile

Your profile now shows a yearly line graph so you can see speed and accuracy trends over the long term.

Currently, it only shows your total, all-time average speed and accuracy, however, we will be adding lots of filtering options soon so that you can see more granular typing data

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where users couldn't log in from the practice and code pages.
  • Fixed a bug on the daily stats page where changing window focus caused a state change.
  • Fixed a bug where the browser zoom-out shortcut (Cmd + -) wasn't working.
