40-Assassin's Creed Shadows Might Be Delaying The Inevitable

Delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows Will Unlikely Save It From Its Fate

Despite Ubisoft's supposedly best intentions with delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows, it may not be enough to rescue it from its likely result.

The franchise, which has already released 13 titles, with a 14th in the delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows, plus an additional 17 spin-offs, VR and mobile titles, is reportedly aiming to release 10 titles in five years. That means by 2030, there will be approximately 41 titles in all. Not even Resident Evil has that many titles.

Get Ready To Assassinate Over And Over Again

That information comes by way of reliable insider, Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, who in his report on the Black Flag Remake's fast development, noted that Ubisoft has grand plans for its decade-plus franchise.

Per Henderson:

Insider Gaming understands that this is part of Ubisoft’s ramp-up strategy for the Assassin’s Creed series, which will see around 10 Assassin’s Creed titles of various lengths and experiences released in the next five years. This includes Assassin’s Creed codename Jade, a fully-fledged mobile offering with a tentative date in Q2 2025 (FYQ1 26).

Of the 10 Assassin's Creed titles mentioned, one of them is undoubtedly the long-rumored Black Flag Remake. The mobile game titled Jade, which has had various gameplay elements leaked in the past, is another title, along with Hexe, as well as the multiplayer project codenamed Invictus make up another three titles.

That leaves roughly six unnamed titles left to come out before 2030. As the report indicates, the titles will be of "various lengths," meaning the rest likely won't be full-length games. There's also the element of other planned remakes to consider, which Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot had already confirmed would be a thing.

Either way, that's a lot of games in such a short window. If fans weren't already fatigued by the number of games that already exist, then they sure will be by 2030.

Assassin's Creed Shadows might be getting a co-op mode, but the PvP multiplayer is the ones fans love and want.
