SOCIAL media users are noticing that some of their favorite platforms are down.
Thousands of people have shared they are having trouble accessing social media platforms run by Meta, such as Facebook and Instagram.

Down Detector indicated that several users have reported having problems with Facebook and Facebook Messenger around 9:30am on Friday.
As of 9:36am, there were over 7,500 reports of issues with Facebook Messenger.
Andy Stone, a communications director at Meta said the company was aware of the reported issues.
“We’re aware people are currently having trouble accessing our services. We’re working on it,” he wrote on X.
Shortly before noon, Stone issued an updating saying, “We’re coming back, though it may take a bit of time for everything to be fully back to normal.”
Many users experienced trouble trying to log in to Facebook, with some seeing an error message reading, “This page isn’t available right now.”
Others have reportedly faced “query error” messages.
Instagram users also had trouble accessing the app and website, with 5,000 reports coming in at 10am on NordVPN.

Instagram displayed an error message of “Sorry, something went wrong,” for some users.
“We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can,” the message read.
Down Detector users said they were left feeling concerned about the technical issues.
“Anyone know what’s going on and for how long it will go on for? cause it freaked me out not gonna lie,” one person said.
“Just opened Instagram and it suddenly logged me out of Messenger.”
Another person said they were logged out and when they tried logging back in, it said, “An unexpected error occurred. Please try logging in again.”
“Crazy that it says they’re up and operational & not experiencing an outage but the fact that we’re all here says differently,” said another.
Those affected by the issue are taking to other social media platforms like Reddit to share their problems.
“Thank god for Reddit, experiencing the same thing and all ‘is it down’ sites say no. Yes, I’m logged in but all posts are from 19h ago, can’t refresh, and can’t see my pages [sic],” one person wrote on the Facebook thread.
Others said they feared at first that their accounts had been hacked before seeing other people share similar login troubles.
