In Minneapolis, and around the country, protests against federal immigration enforcement filled streets on Friday as Operation Metro Surge neared the two-month mark in Minnesota.

Just before thousands took to the street in Minneapolis, Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance at a benefit concert at First Avenue and played his new protest song, “Streets of Minneapolis.”

The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents last weekend. President Donald Trump criticized Pretti on social media, labeling him an “agitator” and possibly an “insurrectionist.”

More protests are planned over the weekend, in Minnesota and in other states.
