What's biological, and what's modeled?

FlyWire mapped brain wiring from electron-microscope images. This site uses a selected 668-neuron circuit—not the whole brain.

Spikes and physiology are software models adapted from DesktopFly. The simulated brains receive computed inputs from the cursor, clicks, food and camera motion—not raw sensory data.

SQUASH sends a large simulated nociceptive input through the circuit, then stops that fly's simulation instance. It does not show that the simulation is conscious or feels pain.
