I met Steve when Nanome was an art project in a VizArts lab at UCSD. Seeing this project come to fruition has piqued my interest in STEM and opens worlds of opportunity to future scientists. Great interfaces lower the barrier to entry in any field. Imagine if we only gave children access to chalk and pencil and expected all of them to become sculptors. Something similar is happening in STEM today, wherein even professionals rely on antiquated legacy tools like pen + paper of 2D mouse + keyboard interfaces.
