We have only scratched the surface in developing 3D printable tools for COBLE. We began with microscope adapters and a gel imaging system, and quickly realized the number of additional pieces of equipment that could be fabricated via 3D printing in the process of extracting DNA from plant material from tissue prep to running a single gel. The manuscript for the equipment created as part of this study has been submitted to Applications in Plant Science and is currently in review. A preprint will soon be available on BioRxiv as well.
We recommend printing at a minimum of 40% infill for our models. We have only tested these models in petG and PLA plastics. For any files that may be exposed to liquid or any amount of force we strongly recommend using petG or plastics with stronger tensile strengths.
