FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The American AI Exports Program, established by Executive Order 14320, is a whole-of-government effort to promote the adoption of full-stack American AI packages abroad. As the global leader in AI development and industry, the United States has access to the best AI technologies, which deliver untold benefits to Americans. The United States is committed to sharing these technologies and has deployed structured import support, including competitive financing solutions, technical assistance, and last-mile AI implementation through the Tech Prosperity Corps, to enable America's partners to reap the benefits of American AI.

Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers should have an associate's or bachelor's degree in a STEM subject or comparable work experience. Volunteers do not need to have studied computer science but should have foundational technical skills and an interest in learning about components of the AI technology stack.
A typical Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteer deployment is 12-27 months, which includes three months of pre-service training. Similar to other Peace Corps Volunteers, Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers live and work in-country for the duration of their service, including during training.
Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers may be assigned to work alongside government agencies and community organizations at the national, regional, and community levels. Volunteers support projects directly connected to a country's participation in the American AI Exports Program, such as by supporting last-mile implementation of AI applications in sector-specific use cases (e.g., on farms, in hospitals/clinics, in schools, etc.), helping identify where AI procurements would be most impactful, and otherwise building capacity for sustained AI adoption and innovation.
The Peace Corps provides Volunteers with housing and a living stipend that enables them to live and work alongside the people in their community of service.
Yes! Tech Prosperity Corps accepts engagement through the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot. This allows experienced technology professionals to donate 5-15 hours a week to mentor and support projects on-the-ground.

Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers support host-country institutions, ideally at the grassroots level, to support countries to prepare for and fully utilize American AI technologies. Projects range depending on the countries' needs, the AI applications they procure, and the gaps in sustained adoption of those technologies.
Illustrative project examples include:
Country A procures an AI-based healthcare system that includes many tools, such as an AI transcription tool to generate clinical notes from patient visits, AI diagnostic tools to review transcripts to inform clinical actions, and an AI platform to streamline administrative and patient services. Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers provide support to integrate this AI-based healthcare system into a local hospital's workflows, train medical and administrative staff, develop appropriate data and privacy protocols, and work with staff to customize the AI-based healthcare system to the local language.
Country B procures an AI-enabled precision agriculture system that includes a smartphone application for monitoring crops and soil conditions using drone imagery and real-time sensors. Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and extension services to train operators and farmers to use the application to track local agricultural data, curate national agricultural information systems, and inform farming irrigation and fertilization decisions.
Country C procures a suite of AI education tools ranging from tools that help teachers efficiently evaluate student writing and improve educational outcomes to AI tutoring systems for personalized learning. Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers support the country's Ministry of Education to identify gaps in student, teacher, and parent services where AI education tools could be most impactful, informing the applications procured. Volunteers then support school districts to integrate these tools into classroom workflows, train teachers and administrators, work toward the expansion of AI access in remote regions, and align tools with national curriculum standards and local languages.
Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers will be deployed to countries with a Peace Corps presence that procure AI through the American AI Exports Program and request Tech Prosperity Corps implementation assistance.
Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteer opportunities are announced on a rolling basis, following the launch of and initial sales made through the American AI Exports Program. This may be as early as Spring 2026, with on-the-ground service as early as Fall 2026. Exact timelines will be determined as opportunities are announced.
Upon returning home, Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers will receive the same post-service benefits as other Peace Corps Volunteers. Click here to learn more.
Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers may pursue employment with private sector partners (including developers of the AI applications included in the American AI Exports Program), apply for continued federal service, or leverage their experience as they seek other career opportunities.
The American AI Exports Program calls for industry consortia to export the full AI stack to countries around the world. The Tech Prosperity Corps supports last-mile implementation of these exports, with a focus on the AI application layer. The companies providing AI applications as part of their stack may have forward-deployed engineers of their own, who can work with and mentor Tech Prosperity Corps Volunteers helping with AI adoption on-the-ground. Companies may also encourage technologists to engage directly with the initiative through the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot.
