Spotify down: Music streaming service crashes for users around the world

According to Down Detector, the problems on Spotify started at around 11:32 BST, and are affecting users of the music streaming service around the world, with a simultaneous problem affecting the loading of Apple apps

Music streaming service Spotify went down for users across the world this morning.

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 11:32 BST, and affected users around the world.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 67% reported problems with music streaming, 28% with log-in, and 4% with the website.

Mirror Online tried to access the Spotify iPhone app, and found that it crashed.

However, the Spotify web player and Spotify Android app both appeared to be working as usual.

Several frustrated users took to Twitter to discuss this morning's outage.

One user said: "Okay but im literally at school working and spotify goes down girl what am i supposed to listen to."

Another added: "So much new music to listen to and Spotify is down?"

And one joked: "*app crashes* Me checking Twitter to see if anyone else experiencing the same. Spotify down."

Spotify has now tweeted to confirm the outage is now over, although the reason for it remains unclear.

It tweeted: "Everything’s now back in tune! If you still need help, send us a tweet."

Meanwhile, some iPhone users have reported other apps crashing on their devices also - such as Facebook and Tinder.

Facebook has now confirmed that it is behind the outage, due to an issue with its iOS Software Developer Kit (SDK).

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Facebook spokesperson said: "We’re aware that some applications are currently affected by an issue in our Facebook iOS SDK.

"We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
