Intro
I started specs in class 5th with a hope to correct my vision(farsightedness). Disappointingly, I still adorn them after 2.5 decades! Do you know a single individual who got their vision restored wearing spectacles? Wonder with this huge data, we still haven’t questioned the authenticity and efficacy of this process. A billion dollar industry is running just because of our ignorance and herd mindset.
Hidden UX
We all learn to walk, drive and hone tons of other skills but how well do we train our senses? Have you ever learnt to ‘see’ just the way you learn how to sing? Guess we all know the answer to this is a negative. The obvious stand here is - What is there to learn anyways? They just work! And you are absolutely right. But do they just work? If that’d be the case no one around you would be wearing glasses, including yourself.
We have taken things for granted for too long. Too many devices, too much focus. Result? Abused organ with no rest and constant degradation.
States revealed
4 fundamental states of our #Eyes
1) Focused/Engaged - For sure you have driven a car or are familiar with one. When they are being driven, they enroll into the costliest and busiest state. To the same effect our eyes, when open and focused, demands heaviest resources. This has become our defined ‘normal’. We are constantly focused on screens, objects, people & rest. For the entire time we are awake, this is the default mode we adapt to and apply. We pay a heavy price against this so-called ‘normal’.
2) Relaxed/Passive healing - When you let your car cool off during a long journey, you allow it to recoup itself. Your eyes need the same time off when a grueling day keeps wearing it down. This is when we daydream. Mostly unintentional and subconscious. The state of peripheral vision(looking at multiple objects at the same time) or focus less vision. A naturally relaxing state that not only eases your eyes but your mind. Very similar to meditation. The more you adapt to this the more relaxed you’d be - both your eyes and mind will thank you.
3) Healing/Active improvement - Time to time your car demands servicing, else you’ll land up in a no man’s land in your next transit. Have you been to an eye spa lately or even ever? Don’t worry about the bucks, your spa is within your limits and will. A hidden correctional process to improve eyesight. This is the secret sauce, one may discover this accidentally but often can’t explain it to anybody else. Here is how you can - Instead of looking at an object in a particular point(focused), look at the WHOLE object, automatically making your eyes relaxed and in peripheral vision. There are two methods to do this, near & far. Take a near object and look at it whole while observing the background and its movement. Then do the reverse, look at a distant object wholly and observe near periphery movement.
4) Closed/Sleeping - This is the state where your car is parked. For your eyes it's when you are asleep. It causes passive healing with correct closure. Again nobody taught you how to sleep nor we bothered to learn as - what was to learn? Well, apparently helping you sleep won’t be a billion dollar industry otherwise today. Let us bankrupt them with a simple trick. Apply peripheral vision and then close your eyes! Simple right? Almost unbelievable yet true, try it yourself.

For some this might be a plain write-off and for some it might be a shock. No matter how you conclude the information, just try it practically. In case you arrive at ‘confusing states’ (pun intended), be sure to reach out to me on twitter @mrsareen
