DOGE impersonators storm San Francisco City Hall, demand information, sheriff says
Three men entered various offices at San Francisco City Hall on Friday, demanding information, the sheriff's office said. And what they were wearing drew more attention amid a heated political climate. The men were dressed in DOGE shirts, or the Department of Government Efficiency, and Make America Great Again hats, the sheriff's office said. The three impersonators entered city hall around noon, officials said, demanding that employees "turn over digital information related to alleged wasteful government spending and fraud." The employees denied the requests and contacted San Francisco deputies.Officials said by the time the deputies arrived, the three men had fled the building. The sheriff's office said it does not believe the men were actual representatives from DOGE.The incident comes at a time when actual DOGE employees have drawn criticism over their methods to downsize the federal workforce and raised concerns about access to sensitive personal data for Americans. California has joined 18 other states to sue the president to stop DOGE from accessing Treasury Department records. Read more here.
