Finnish colleagues have discovered a way to create hotel master keys – could have opened ”millions of doors” around the world

Fifteen years ago, two young men – Tomi Tuominen and Timo Hirvonen – went to a hacker meeting in Berlin. They stayed at a fine hotel.

Then, something bad happened: a colleague had their laptop computer stolen from a hotel room.

There were no signs of forced entry, and the staff were unable to find out what had happened. The victim was a well-known information security researcher, which gave them cause to suspect that the thief knew what they were doing.
