Spain approved an extraordinary regularization process for foreign nationals already residing in Spain, according to an official announcement from La Moncloa following the April 14, 2026, Council meeting.
As a result, the following changes will take effect:
- A new regularization process will open on April 16, 2026, allowing eligible foreign nationals in Spain to apply for legal residence and work authorization.
- Online applications will be available beginning April 16, and in‑person appointments will begin April 20, 2026.

- Spain implemented the measure through a royal decree that reforms the country’s immigration framework, and the process provides a structured pathway for individuals already living in Spain to obtain legal status.
