USPS Small Box Flat Rate Isn't Flat Rate on eBay?

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

eBay is not always giving me a discounted USPS shipping rate and refuses to recognize the error. I ship using the small box USPS Flat Rate Priority mail packaging. The normal rate for this is $12.10 and eBay discounts this to $10.59.

My last 10 transactions, eBay has charged me $12.10 twice. I have called them out about this, but they refuse to recognize an issue, even when escalated to their 2nd level support. They claim that the cost is different, depending on where I ship in the US, which is false. Flat rate shipping is just that, flat to any normal address ... Read More

Buyer Says eBay Pop-ups Disrupt His Shopping

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

What is going on with eBay and all the bot and AI pop-ups on the site? I bought something yesterday and have gotten 1/2 dozen message to PAY NOW or LAST CHANCE TO PAY - and it continues.

I am waiting to hear from the seller to change the shipping option, and eBay is even interrupting my shopping experience with pop-ups to PAY NOW, COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION NOW.

I called to complain to eBay customer service, and good luck with that - there is no customer service or community to eBay - I suggested they sell the company to someone who cares!

Fake Tracking Scams Target Buyers and Sellers

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

By all accounts it appears I'm the victim of buyer fraud (I'm an eBay seller for over 20 years, 100% FB). It involves over $800 and seems to be using the FTID scam (fake tracking I.D.).

Would love to see an article regarding this very disturbing practice now happening not just on eBay. I'm a senior on a fixed income and can't really afford an $800 scam loss.

Thank you for your consideration,

C.

Seller Says Etsy Shipping Calculator Is Inaccurate

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

I have sold on Etsy since 2012. I am a star seller with almost 13,000 sales. I have noticed the last month or so, that the shipping calculator is completely off. As sellers, we input weight and dimensions and the buyer puts in the zip code when purchasing and the calculator does the rest.

I have also had sluggish sales the last few months so if an item was a bit more to ship than calculated, I just absorbed the cost. I don't think this is an accident. Today, a buyer bought the exact same item she did 2 weeks ago. The first ... Read More

eBay Cancels Order after Seller Ships $600 Item

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

A while back I sold a $600 lens on eBay. eBay said they had the funds and I printed the shipping label and sent the lens to Florida the same day. Then they said that the order was cancelled. I had already sent the box to the buyer.

I called "customer service" and was connected to someone who couldn't really speak English name Steve of all things. He said that I needed to talk to his supervisor.

After speaking to about five supervisors I got back to Steve as though he was the next up the chain. When I brought this up to him, he ... Read More
