Focusing on how algorithmic management and workplace surveillance allows corporations like Amazon to steal wages, intensify poor working conditions, and evade responsibility.
We focus on how workplace technology–including artificial intelligence (AI) systems, phone apps, onboard sensors, routing software, vehicle sensors, and customer cameras–enable wage theft and labor intensification. We also connect these strategies to other types of unpaid work that workers, consumers, and students perform for corporations.
We focus on the labor exploitation driving so-called AI systems and argue that supporting transnational worker organizing efforts should be a priority in discussions pertaining to AI ethics.
