CtrlVibe AI Console keypad – An OpenAI Codex Micro alternative for AI workflows (Crowdfunding)

The CtrlVibe AI Console is a programmable desktop keypad designed for AI workflows. The device includes hardware controls for switching between AI tools, launching shortcuts, selecting execution modes, and recording voice input. It comes with nine programmable mechanical keys, a rotary encoder, a three-position switch, a 1.14-inch LCD, a built-in MEMS microphone, USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity, and RGB status lighting.

The features and specifications of the CtrlVibe make it an alternative to Work Louder Codex Micro, a $230 mechanical macropad designed for OpenAI Codex. There is also an open-source firmware project available for the M5Stack Core2 that reproduces many of the Codex Micro’s features. While the Codex Micro is designed specifically for OpenAI Codex, the CtrlVibe AI Console can be used with multiple AI tools and uses a rotary encoder to switch between applications or models, along with a three-position hardware switch for selecting AI execution modes.

The device is configured through the CtrlVibe Configurator software, which lets users assign functions to the keys, rotary encoder, and permission switch. The rotary encoder can be used to switch between AI applications such as ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini, and terminal sessions, or to cycle through different AI models. Additionally, there is a three-position permission switch with Ask, Bypass, and Auto modes, allowing users to require confirmation before execution, run commands without confirmation, or let the software decide when confirmation is needed.

We have written about various programmable macropads and shortcut keypads over the years, from ESP32-based macropads like the duckyPad Pro to commercial products such as CH552G-based mini keyboards, UltraBar X desktop smart-hub, and Waveshare MK10. Unlike those devices, the CtrlVibe AI Console is designed specifically for AI-assisted workflows, supporting switching between multiple AI tools and controlling AI execution via dedicated hardware controls.

The device comes with nine programmable mechanical keys that can be configured for different shortcuts and workflow actions using the companion software. It also supports hot-swappable mechanical switches, making it easy to replace the switches to suit different preferences.

Default functions assigned to the nine programmable keys include Record, Run, Stop, Apply, Retry, Agent, Model, Diff, and Prompt.

For voice input, the CtrlVibe uses a built-in MEMS microphone and speech processing software to convert spoken commands into text. According to the company, the software can remove filler words, format the transcribed text, and send it directly to the active AI application. Voice processing can be performed locally on the host PC or through an optional cloud service.

The CtrlVibe AI Console is now available on Kickstarter, with Super Early Bird pricing starting at $109 for the standard model and $129 for the Carbon Matrix Edition. Standard Early Bird pricing starts at $139, with additional bundles that include accessories such as a lavalier microphone, replacement switches, and a carrying case. Shipping costs will be collected separately after the campaign, and deliveries are currently estimated for November 2026. At the time of writing, the CtrlVibe AI Workflow Console software is not publicly available, and will be made available when the campaign ends.
