French politics is a mess and its budget a slog, but the country’s strengths as a European technology hub are defying the gloom. This week, Franco-American artificial-intelligence guru Yann LeCun, who’s due to leave Meta Platforms Inc., told an AI summit in Paris that he was focusing on a new venture and strongly hinted that it could be based in the French capital. “You have to do this kind of work outside of the Valley, in Paris,” said LeCun. The city was recently ranked the No. 3 global AI hub by Dealroom.co.
