Anthropic PBC uncovered a group in northern Yemen — where Iran-backed Houthi militants operate — using its Claude AI model to support the development of missile and rocket systems, highlighting growing concerns over the use of advanced AI in military programs and by non-state actors.
The unidentified actors were working on three weapons projects, including a guided rocket, a ballistic missile with a claimed range of more than 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles), and a missile family known as the R2000, Anthropic said in its latest report on detecting and countering misuse of AI, which was published Thursday.
