JuliaHub raises $65M to take on Simulink

Former Snowflake CEO Bob Muglia, a longtime Microsoft server boss, is backing JuliaHub, a startup that sees a role for AI agents designing complex products such as cars and airplanes.

Why it matters: JuliaHub is betting AI plus Julia, the open-source technical computing language, can challenge Simulink, MathWorks' decades-old tool for modeling and simulating complex systems.

Driving the news: JuliaHub announced $65 million in Series B funding alongside Dyad 3.0, the latest version of its software for modeling and simulating complex systems.

• The round was led by Dorilton Capital, with participation from General Catalyst, AE Industrial Partners and Muglia, an existing investor.

What they're saying: Muglia said JuliaHub aims to harness agentic coding tools while still offering the kind of precision needed for complex hardware design.

• "The physical world needs mathematical certainty attached to what it's doing," Muglia told Axios. "And that's what Dyad provides."

Yes, but: Muglia, who spent 23 years at Microsoft and served as Snowflake CEO from 2014 to 2019, acknowledges there is a lot of work ahead if JuliaHub wants to unseat the incumbent.
