How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Brilliant concept and the perfect book to pair with the original!

Brilliant concept and the perfect book to pair with the original!

Wow, I was completely blown away by this book. I can't believe this has never been done before! Through the translation of 1984 by George Orwell, year84 shows the reader directly what Orwell was warning against. It is a brilliant concept by Conaway. The intro clearly described Conaway's intentions and process for writing the book, which is fascinating to read. The book itself is amazing in that it puts the reader directly into the world imagined by Orwell. I highly recommend this read, especially for Orwell enthusiasts.

This is a brilliant idea. Take Orwell’s 1984 and translate it into Newspeak - the language of Ingsoc, invented to prevent any thoughtcrime. Of course, changes had to be made - WInston must now be wrong in all his thinking, and the end a joyful thing.
It is a little tiring to read, but excellent. You must first have read 1984 - if not , this book will make no sense.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing way to reread the original

Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2023

I started reading this just to enjoy the language play, but while I thought I'd get bored or frustrated with attempting to read in Newspeak after a chapter or so, it turns out to be really engrossing. The language helps convey the oppressive totalitarian mood, possibly even better than Orwell's original.

I wouldn't recommend this to people who haven't already read 1984 or those who don't enjoy wordplay, but for a linguistics nerd wanting to reread the original, this was perfect.
