What is WesterosCraft?
WesterosCraft is a Minecraft community project dedicated to recreating the entire continent of Westeros from George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. We strive for accuracy to the books while showcasing what's possible in Minecraft via collaborative building.
How long has this project been running?
WesterosCraft was founded in 2011 and has been in continuous development since then. Many locations have been completed, while others are still being built or revised to match our evolving standards.
How big is the map?
Our custom map is approximately 22,000 x 59,000 blocks, about 1298 sq km / 501.14 sq miles, roughly the size of Los Angeles. The continent of Westeros stretches from beyond the Wall in the North to Dorne in the South.
Can I download the map?
No. Our map is gigantic in size and unfinished. The map will become available when it is more complete. We will never sell the map. We have select location downloads on our Curseforge page, and more maps are added periodically.
Do I need to buy Minecraft to explore WesterosCraft?
Yes, you need to own a legitimate copy of Minecraft Java Edition to connect to our server. We do not provide Minecraft accounts. Cracked accounts can not access the server.
How do I join the server?
Follow the instructions on our WesterosCraft Modpack page to install our custom modpack, then launch the game and click 'Join Server' on the launcher.
Can I explore without building?
Absolutely! Most of our players are explorers rather than builders. You can freely warp around and explore all our completed locations without any building permissions.
How can I become a builder?
To become a builder, you need to submit a builder application. The process involves creating test builds to demonstrate your skills.
Do you follow the books or the TV show?
Our primary reference is the book series. While we appreciate the HBO series, we aim to stay true to George R.R. Martin's written descriptions whenever possible.
How can I support the project financially?
We accept donations to cover server costs and development. Visit our KoFi. We are a non-profit project, and all donations go directly to maintaining the server and paying hosting costs.
