Valve Steam Deck LCD battery returns at $50 higher price
© iFixitiFixit has restocked the official Steam Deck LCD replacement battery, but it now costs considerably more. The battery alone is listed at $129.99, while the Fix Kit with the required opening and removal tools costs $134.99. Both options are currently ready to ship.
The genuine battery previously cost $79.99. The new price represents a $50 increase, or 62.5%. This makes the replacement battery more expensive than before despite retaining the same 40 Wh capacity and 5200 mAh rating.
LCD battery now costs more than OLED version
The official Steam Deck OLED battery remains available for $79.99. It also has a larger 50.08 Wh capacity and a 6470 mAh rating. The LCD battery therefore costs $50 more despite offering around 20% less capacity.
© iFixitiFixit also sells a separate aftermarket battery for the Steam Deck LCD at $79.99. This model offers a nearly identical 40.04 Wh capacity, but iFixit confirms that it is not an OEM Valve part. The company added this alternative while the official battery was unavailable.
Valve connected iFixit with another supplier
We previously reported that an iFixit representative claimed Valve was beginning to discontinue some Steam Deck LCD parts. Valve later clarified that iFixit would continue receiving the same OEM batteries through one of Valve’s supply partners. iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens said Valve had connected the repair company with a supplier.
Neither Valve nor iFixit has provided an explanation for the higher price. The returned OEM battery is listed as a genuine Valve component, while the cheaper aftermarket option remains available under a separate product page.
