Lucebox combines Strix Halo and discrete GPU
Yes, it’s for AI, and yes, it’s rare to see Strix Halo paired with a discrete GPU. The high-end APU design was supposed to reduce the need for one, but it obviously supports a discrete GPU connection. Apparently, this combination has found a use in AI workloads.
Lucebox has opened direct orders for its AMD-powered local AI workstation. The system costs $5,999 for the Developer configuration and combines a Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor with a discrete Radeon AI PRO R9700. Lucebox is already warning that the current price will increase soon.
Strix Halo and RDNA 4 in one system
The Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 is a 16-core Strix Halo processor paired with 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory. Its integrated Radeon GPU has 40 compute units and up to 256 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Lucebox adds a Radeon AI PRO R9700 with 32GB of GDDR6 memory, 64 compute units and 640 GB/s of bandwidth.

This gives the system 128GB of unified memory alongside 32GB of dedicated graphics memory. Lucebox uses the two memory pools together for models that cannot fit entirely within the R9700’s 32GB VRAM. The company says its engine can distribute different parts of a model between the Radeon R9700 and Strix Halo rather than treating them as identical devices.
Lucebox claims 51 tokens per second with DeepSeek V4 Flash
Lucebox has published tests with the 284-billion-parameter DeepSeek V4 Flash model. Its current results show a median decode rate of 51.1 tokens per second using a 102.3GB compressed model and an 11.3GB draft model. The company compared this with 14.09 tokens per second on one NVIDIA DGX Spark, although the two systems use different quantization and software configurations.
© LUCEBOXThe workstation comes with a 2TB NVMe SSD, 5 GbE, Wi-Fi 7 and a 1,000W 80 PLUS Platinum power supply. The complete system measures 340 × 110 × 320 mm and has an 11.97-liter volume. Lucebox lists power consumption at around 500W under a full inference workload and around 40W at idle. It ships with Ubuntu Server and the company’s open-source inference engine pre-installed.
Lucebox previously required buyers to apply for an allocation before receiving a purchase link. Direct checkout is now available with up to five systems per order. Batch 3 is already sold out and Batch 4 is scheduled to ship in November 2026.
I’ll just say their website looks entirely vibe-coded, and even the images look like they were generated by some kind of AI. I’m not sure I’d buy a product from a page like this.
