Geekbench 7 switches baseline from Core i7-12700 to Ryzen 7 7700

Primate Labs is introducing Geekbench 7, the next version of its cross-platform CPU benchmark. The company prepared Windows, Linux and macOS builds, a CPU workload document and a dedicated Geekbench Browser section.
Primate Labs actaully offered information under embargo but never sent the promised materials. The company then published the installers, documentation and public results through its own servers, effectively revealing the benchmark itself. Which is quite funny given that Geekbench is the source of most tech leaks.
New CPU and media workloads
Geekbench 7 adds dedicated Photo Editor, Game Physics, Video Encoder, Audio Encoder and Video Decoder workloads. Game Physics uses the Jolt Physics engine, while the media tests use AV1, Opus and the Whisper speech recognition model.
© VideoCardzSeveral Geekbench 6 tests have been removed or combined. Object Remover, Horizon Detection and Photo Filter are now covered by the broader Photo Editor workload. The separate Object Detection and Background Blur tests are also gone, although Photo Library now imports images, generates thumbnails and detects objects using MobileNetV1 SSD.
Other workloads received updated software and data sets. Text Processing now uses Python 3.13 instead of Python 3.9. Asset Compression processes ASTC and BC7 textures alongside Draco geometry, while File Compression tests LZ4, zlib and Zstandard archives.
Only eight workloads currently contribute to the multi-core score. These include File Compression, Photo Library, Clang, Text Processing, Asset Compression, HDR, Photo Editor and Ray Tracer. Navigation, HTML5 Browser, PDF Viewer, Structure from Motion, Game Physics and the media workloads only appear in the single-core section.
Ryzen 7 7700 becomes the new baseline
Geekbench 7 scores use a baseline of 2,500 points. This reference score is based on a Lenovo Legion system with an AMD Ryzen 7 7700 processor. Geekbench 6 used a Dell Precision 3460 with an Intel Core i7-12700 instead.
The baseline is a calibration reference, not a score that every Ryzen 7 7700 system should produce. A score of 5,000 represents twice the measured performance of the 2,500-point reference system within Geekbench 7. Results should not be compared directly with Geekbench 6 scores.
Users have already downloaded and tested Geekbench 7. The public database includes results from Apple M-series systems and recent AMD and Intel processors, despite Primate Labs not having formally distributed its embargo materials.
