Corsair 192GB DDR5 kit traded for GeForce RTX 5070 Ti but memory is worth three times as much

The Facebook thread shared by Olrak29 suggest that someone traded a 192 GB Corsair DDR5 kit for a PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, saying it was between that GPU or a 27-inch 240 Hz QD-OLED monitor.
Although at first it seems shocking that memory alone is even worth this much, most replies correctly mention that the trade was actually a bad deal. The memory alone is now worth close to RTX 5090 money, with some claiming he could have gotten a 4090 or 5090 instead.
This is a result of exploding DDR5 prices, and such kits are almost impossible to find at anything close to their original price from just few weeks ago. They share screenshots showing 192 GB kits around $2,250. A few people say they regret selling RAM cheap weeks ago, while others brag about what they paid before the spike.

Corsair’s 192 GB Vengeance RGB kit like the one shown in the thread, is currently listed at around 2,225 USD in the US, while an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti typically sells for about 750 USD. On paper that means the trader handed over a memory kit worth roughly three times the value of the graphics card, which is why so many commenters point out that the swap was heavily skewed against the RAM owner.

Honestly, at this point we may see similar ‘trades’ soon involving even more expensive graphics cards. On one hand, it’s good that GPU pricing hasn’t yet skyrocketed, but some correction is indeed coming, even as reported today.
