Particle Lenia is an Artificial Lifeform that consists of point particles that simultaneously generate a potential energy field, and try to minimize their own local energy. Just a few parameters create a huge variety of different “creatures”.

The main inspiration comes from Flow Lenia. We decided to preserve the system mass by simply replacing the scalar field representing creatures with a population of particles. Great thanks to

Finally, we also show that this new model allows for the integration of the update rule parameters within the model dynamics allowing for multi-species simulations. We argue that this feature could pave the way towards intrinsic evolution inside continuous CAs
