In layman's terms, MITRE is in charge of maintaining the authoritative list of CVEs, and this would mean even more increasing delays, if not the total collapse of the current CVE ecosystem.
Tomorrow, we may enter the CVE multiverse. Brace for duplicate IDs, broken tooling, and a thousand reinvented wheels.
