What happened on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Lebanon was a massacre.

On the first day of the cease-fire between Iran and the United States, Israel carried out 100 airstrikes in 10 minutes on Beirut, its outskirts, south Lebanon, and the Bekaa, without prior warning.

In Beirut, especially, the attacks targeted densely populated residential neighborhoods.

The death toll remains provisional as rescue workers are still, as of Thursday morning, pulling victims from the rubble. So far, at least over 203 people have been killed and over 1,000 others wounded, according to the Health Ministry.

The numbers are men, women, and children. Lives cut short.

Ola Attar was killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut. Her husband, Hamad Attar, had been killed by the Beirut Port explosion on Aug. 4, 2020, when she was only 28.

Since then, she had devoted herself to the association for victims of Aug. 4 and fought for justice in the case.

Ola was a mother of two children, aged 12 and 17.


Nader Khalil was an employee at Rifai Roasteries for 35 years.

The Israeli strike on the building housing Rifai's Corniche al-Mazraa branch.

Rifai mourned Khalil, who "was known for his dedication, exceptional service, and passion for his work."


Jamil Jrab
, an employee at Jai restaurant in Hamra, was killed by an Israeli strike on a building near his home where he was having lunch.

The restaurant mourned Jrab, a man who was "kind and gentle, extremely diligent, and often full of humor."


Poet Khatoun Salma and her husband, Mohammed Krisht,
were killed by the Israeli strike on Tallet al-Khayat.

Salma had won the Arabic poetry prize in the TV star search program, Studio Al-Fann, in the 1970s and was the author of two poetry collections.


Ghada Dayekh, a journalist at Radio Sot al-Farah
in Sour, was killed by an Israeli strike on her building.

The attack "completely destroyed her building," according to station manager Alwan Sharafeddine, who spoke to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

He added that Dayekh had worked with Sawt al-Farah since it was founded in the 1980s and had been broadcasting on air for the past 37 years.

Alia Badreddine, her mother, and her three adult children, Mohammad, Ali, and Fatima al-Atrash, originally from Kfar Sir (Nabatieh district), were killed by an Israeli strike on Hay al-Sellom, in Beirut's southern suburbs.

The family had been spending time together at home at the time of the attack.


The Israeli strike on Keyfoun (Aley district) killed Suzanne Khalil, a journalist at Hezbollah's Al-Manar channel.

Physician Dr. Nadim Shamseddine, his wife Asrar, and their three children were killed by the Israeli strike on Keyfoun.

The strike wiped out an entire family in their home, where Shamseddine also carried out parts of his work.

Rana Hessaiki Mlaheb, from Baysour (Aley district), was also killed by the Israeli strike on Keyfoun.

She was killed while buying medication to distribute to those displaced by Israeli attacks.

Fatima Amhaz, originally from Qmatieh (Aley district), was killed by an Israeli strike on a pharmacy in Keyfoun, where she worked.

She was the sister of Imad Amhaz, kidnapped by Israeli forces in Batroun during the 2024 war.

The Israeli strike on the al-Sayyida Zahraa complex in Saida killed 25-year-old Smah Alloush, who worked at a small stationery and library shop.

She was an only child, survived by her mother, who was injured by the attack.

In one of her last posts on social media, she wrote: “I stayed 36 days under bombardment. Once I got displaced, they decided to announce a cease-fire. Oh, lucky me.”

Hussein Mohammad Allam, his wife Fatima Mohammad Allam, and their daughter Yasmine Hussein Allam, from Hermel, were killed by the Israeli strike on al-Ajneha al-Khamsa compound, which leveled three buildings in Choueifat, in Beirut's southern suburbs.

Amani Soufan was killed along with her parents, Bassam Soufan and Sanaa Fadlallah, by the Israeli strike on Ain al-Mreisseh in Beirut. Her husband, a Civil Defense member, found their bodies after hours of searching through the rubble.

The Lebanese Army said Thursday that Israeli strikes on Wednesday killed four soldiers. Corporal Hussein Khaled Yassine was killed in Saida. First Class soldier Mohammad Bassam Shheitali and soldier Ali Hassan Qassem were killed by strikes on Shmustar, in the Baalbeck district. Officer cadet Ali Nasreddine was killed by a strike near Hermel.

Said al-Khansa, son of former Ghobeiri municipal chief Mohamad al-Khansa, was killed by an Israeli strike on Keyfoun while working in his pharmacy.

Fouad al-Baradi, from Bkifa (Rashaya) and a member of the Progressive Socialist Party, was killed by the Israeli strike on Bshamoun (Aley), according to the PSP-affiliated outlet Al-Anbaa.

At his funeral on Thursday, PSP MP Wael Bou Faour said: “Today, we bid farewell to a dear, generous, courageous, and committed comrade.”

Khawla Medlej, an Arabic teacher at the National Lycee, and her two children — Abbas, in elementary school, and Youssef, in kindergarten — were killed by a strike on Hay al-Sellom, a neighborhood of Beirut, after they had returned home from school.

Maya Mohammad Balaghi and her daughter Lina Hassan Afif Issa were also killed by the strike on al-Sayyida Zahraa complex in Saida. A Facebook page from Ramieh, their hometown in southern Lebanon, announced their deaths.

Hussein Rihani was killed in a strike in Beirut, his employer dipndip announced.

“Hussein was a valued member of the dipndip family, remembered for his dedication, kindness, and passion for his work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will remain with us forever.”

Seven members of the Nasreddine family were killed by a powerful Israeli strike on their home in Mansoura, Hermel, according to Al-Mayadeen TV. The strike leveled the house and the surrounding area.

An Israeli strike on Jnah killed three generations of the Hawi family — seven people, including three children. After being displaced by Israeli strikes, several family members had gathered in one apartment that had become a refuge.

The father, Zouhair Hawi, his wife Aida Rmeiti, their sons Mahdi and Mohammad, and Mohammad’s three children — Mahdi, Ali Rida and Amir — were all killed. Mohammad Hawi’s wife remains in critical condition.

Sisters Rayane and Rahmeh Haidar Sheaib were killed by a strike on al-Sayyida Zahraa complex in Saida, where Sheikh Sadek Naboulsi, a religious and political figure close to Hezbollah, was also killed. Like many displaced from southern Lebanon in that area of Saida, they frequented the complex for services or prayer.
