You use ad blockers. You avoid email tracking. You hesitate before giving another app your phone number.
The Notifier is different. Users add your organization inside The Notifier – their free personal alert app – then you broadcast messages straight to their phone, only to people who opted in, with no phone number, email, or PII required.
Do not make users surrender the privacy you expect for yourself.
Email and SMS can turn a simple alert into a contact-data system: collect the address or number, store it, secure it, manage consent, and keep the channel deliverable.
The Notifier is being designed around a user-controlled channel instead.
Planned workflow
One user-controlled subscription. One alert when it matters.
Step 1
Invite users to join your group
Your user chooses to join your group by scanning its QR code or tapping its join link.
Step 2
Your app broadcasts an alert
Your app uses The Notifier's APIs to broadcast the alert to each group member's phone.
Step 3
Your alert arrives on their phone
The alert appears on their phone and its message, note and link are displayed in The Notifier app.
We made it easy for you to add alerts to your webapp, website or app. See for yourself by getting a developer account and exploring our REST APIs.
See it work
Scan the QR code or tap the button to join a live alert group. You'll experience the user onboard flow and see how alerts show up on your phone.
(Unofficial) GitHub Incidents
You'll get an alert when GitHub has an incident – they occur more frequently nowadays so you'll likely get your first alert within a day or two.
What we are designing for
No end-user phone number in the alert flow
Your product should not need a person’s phone number to send an alert to their phone.
A recognizable sender
The user should see the product or group they deliberately added.
A shared receiving app
Users should manage alerts from different groups in one place instead of installing a dedicated app for every sender.
User-controlled alerts
The person receiving alerts should be able to manage their alerts without negotiating with the sender.
For product moments that should not depend on an inbox.
- A product launch announced to everyone on a waitlist
- A restock shared with customers following an item
- New appointment slots announced to interested customers
- A schedule or venue change sent to event attendees
- A registration deadline reminder sent to eligible participants
- A beta or feature release announced to opted-in testers
The Notifier is not positioned as an emergency-delivery or safety-critical system. If you are evaluating that kind of workflow, contact us for a direct product, technical, privacy, abuse-prevention, and reliability review.
