First of all I want to thank the forum admins for keeping this place running. I used to listen to U&U back in high school and was on these forums back then as a lurker. Now that I've got something to share I'm sure glad this place is still around since I do NOT know where I'd post this otherwise.

This is the story of the most inexplicable thing to ever happen to me. It still keeps me up at night, just rolling it around in my head as I fail to make it make sense. This is the story of how I took a video from inside a recurring dream.

I'll have to start many years before. In the Spring of 2019 I entered a death spiral after a very close friend of mine passed away. Actually, "close friend" doesn't do her any justice. It's super cheesy, but she was basically my sister. The kind of person who made life make sense, one of the few people I could rely on. I'm trans and my family rejected me, so there's not many of those people to go around. After she passed I became unmoored for a long period. Everything fell to pieces before my eyes. My driver's license expired without my noticing or really caring. I went deep into debt paying rent in Somerville because my restaurant gig only gave me 10 hours per week. I was in withdrawal from my SSRIs because I couldn't afford them. Frankly, I was drowning with nobody to throw me a life preserver.

I hit my breaking point when, around fall of that year, my phone died. It had been complaining for months that I needed to clean-up space by deleting files, but I ignored it. Then, one day, I woke to find my phone stuck on a black screen, a white loading bar in the middle. When it finally finished loading I was faced with the phone's setup screen. It had completely wiped itself. All my files were gone and I was logged out of my apps and gmail account. That's also when I learned that I had also forgotten my gmail password, which I need for all my other passwords, so I was completely locked out of everything.

I'm sure a better-adjusted person could recover from that. But when I realized that all my chats and photos I had with my now-passed friend were gone, I totally crashed out and pretty much gave up on life. This was the bleakest period of my life and I don't want to get into it because it's just sad and boring. Things are much better now.

Fast-forward to Spring 2023. I was finally getting a handle on life (the pandemic did NOT help) and just moved into the house of a long-time internet friend. This friend, who I'll call Jamie, had been bankrolling this big bungalow full of AuDHD queers in suburban Springfield MA on the back of his cushy defense industry tech job. This arrangement was, in his words, repentance for contributing to the military industrial complex. Sometimes we'd not-so-seriously debate whether or not living like NEETs on the dime of Yoyodyne was "praxis" or not.

Irrespective of the arrangement's moral legitimacy, the house was pretty well-maintained and nice to live in. A bit cramped though. There were six adult housemates living in a house made for two parents and two-point-five kids, so there were the inevitable monthly flare-ups of interpersonal drama. But that was a small price to pay for having my own room.

What wasn't so great was the neighbourhood. It was in the middle of low-density suburbia, so there was nothing to do and nowhere to go. Even worse, there was a Home Owners Association. The HOA are your friendly neighbourhood fascist NIMBYs who have the authority to fine you for flying a trans flag on your front lawn. This actually happened to us. Jamie got charged 48 dollars because I once hung a trans flag from the patio. Anything other than the American flag is banned and you can't do shit about it. You can't claim it's discriminatory because they'll claim the rule's in place for "innocent aesthetic reasons." It's just the way it is.

Jamie was constantly coming to blows with the HOA. They didn't seem to appreciate his mission of housing five under-housed weirdos in their otherwise squeaky-clean neighbourhood. They were probably making up rules just to fuck with us. But Jamie tried to shield us from it, only sharing the latest beef he'd have with the HOA president in his theatre-kid way. He'd put on a one-man show in the common room, reciting the latest out-of-pocket thing the HOA president said to him. "Look, 'social justice' matters to me, too," he'd quote, "my son has Asperger's syndrome. I donate to Autism Speaks every month."

My room at Jamie's was pretty small, long and thin, with a bed at one end and a large window on the other. It was actually originally a closet that he converted into a bedroom for my sake. Despite its size, it was very cozy, and I really enjoyed living there.

This story starts in 2023 while I was living in the house of a long-time internet friend, who I will call Jamie. I normally live in Somerville MA, but I moved out to suburban Springfield because he gave me a good deal on rent. He subleases his house to enough people that he had to get creative with how the rooms are used. For instance, my bedroom was actually a converted closet. It was long and thin, with a bed on one end and a large window on the other. Despite its size, it was very cozy, and I really enjoyed living there.

One downside was the room would sometimes get extremely hot. It was east-facing, so you'd get slammed in the face with the sun every morning. I had to put-up some cheap blackout blinds over the window just to sleep properly. They helped with the sun, but only marginally with the heat. It was a sauna in there some nights.

The heat was probably the cause of my strange recurring dream. For some reason this dream was my brain's reaction to being overheated, and I'd invariably have it during those extremely hot days. During heat waves I'd have the dream almost every night.

In this dream I'm lying in bed and the house is spinning counter-clockwise. I'm just there in bed, staring out the window at the opposite end of the room, watching the world outside slowly pass by. That's all the dream was. I could see, behind the desk and computer monitor and blackout blinds, the view outside ceaselessly shifting along eastward to northward to westward to southward and back again and again. The world slowly drifting right, about one spin every minute.

Usually in the dream it was early morning, just after the sun had started to rise. The sunlight would bound around the room, sneaking in through the bottom-half of the window as our bearing passed south, south-east, east, north-east. Basking in those warm beams for several seconds before plunging again into that dim cool morning light.

I'd lie there, watching it go on for what felt like hours. Mesmerized and dizzy. I'd never know what to do, and I was never be able to get out of bed. Eventually I'd wake up, and every time I'd be drained and nauseated and soaked with sweat in my overheated bedroom.

This brings me to the one time my already weird dream got weirder. There was a single night when my recurring dream diverged from the normal pattern. I remember when it happened, early August 2023, because it was during a particularly stressful time in my life where I had to spend a bunch of time going to government offices, jumping through bureaucratic hoops with the help of my housemate Paula.

The HOA had gotten it into their heads that Jamie was leasing the house on AirBnB or something similar, and that's where us weirdos had come from. AirBnBs were banned by the HOA, so we all had to prove that the house was our permanent address or they threatened they'd call the literal Sheriff(???) to come kick us out.

At this time I still didn't have any valid ID. Paula took time off work to drive me around to various government offices so I could get all my papers in order. The more offices we went to the more it seemed like it was going to be impossible. I didn't have my expired drivers license anymore, and any supporting documentation I'd either deleted or were stuck inside my old gmail account. I could tell I'd pissed Paula off by letting it get this bad and generally being so apathetic. At one point she shook me by the shoulders and said "you need to understand this is a life-or-death situation."

But enough of that, on to the dream. As usual the house was spinning, spinning, spinning, etcetera. But after a while I started hearing the doorbell ring from the opposite end of the house. I barely even registered it happening. I was totally out-of-it, just watching the world pass me by. Too dizzy to get-up and answer. I just kept lying there. Then it rang again. Over and over again. The person ringing the doorbell was really going at it. They started banging on the front door. They started yelling at me.

"STOP SPINNING!"

It was an woman's voice, strained with fury.

"STOP SPINNING THE HOUSE!"

She kept going on and on. Ringing the doorbell and banging on the door and screaming:

"YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO SPIN THE HOUSE!"

"STOP SPINNING IT!"

"STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP GOD DAMMIT!"

In hindsight, it's a hilarious image. I can just imagine this person out-front on the covered porch, clinging to the beams so she's not flung off. Screaming and screaming for me to stop this crazy thing, like I had any control over it.

But at the time, in the dream, I was petrified. This person was so angry, her voice whipped-up with this wretched unearthly animal rage. I was terrified she'd get into the house and rip my head off.

Somehow I managed to reach for my bedside table, for my phone. I had it in my mind that I'd call someone for help. But I couldn't make it past the lock screen. I couldn't remember my password. I kept trying different unlock patterns but none of them worked. The woman at the front was only getting louder and louder. I was desperate for something, anything to save me.

And then, well, I don't remember. I think I started to wake up, and the dream started breaking down. Everything came back to normal when I woke, sweating, in my too-hot room. And that was that.

We eventually we managed to find my social security number and figure out my ID situation from there. It took most of the month before I finally got a temporary Mass ID with the house's address on it. The HOA pulled a bunch of other stunts on us, but nothing as existentially harrowing as when they forced us all to give them IDs.

Fast-forward again to November 2025. I'd moved back to Somerville to live in a shared apartment. My old phone was really starting to fall apart so a friend gave me hers as a hand-me-down. The new phone had this feature where it can automatically copy all my files and settings from the old phone. I didn't have any files because I always delete them, but I thought "why the hell not" and did it anyway.

Once it was done copying things over I discovered a pictures folder called "NFRAMETHUMBS" that was totally FULL of pictures copied over from the old phone. Like, hundreds and hundreds of pictures. They were all small low-quality thumbnail versions of every picture I'd ever taken on my old phone, even those I had deleted. Here's an example, it is a picture of my desk back at Jamie's place that I took right after moving in:

I was stunned by the discovery of this folder and all the pictures inside. I jumped on it, spending the rest of the afternoon scrolling through the old thumbnails and hoping-against-hope that something of my dead friend was in there. Unfortunately the earliest thumbnails were from after my phone reset itself in 2019. So it was just a big slideshow of the worst time in my life.

I spent the afternoon looking through the pictures. I was really invested in searching through them since my old phone had once reset itself back in 2019, deleting a bunch of important photos. So I was hoping some of those had survived.

There were also thumbnails for deleted videos. These thumbnails were different screenshots from the video, arranged in a five-by-two grid. I figured out that the frames are arranged in order from right-to-left and top-to-bottom. It goes 1 2 3 4 5, then the next row, then 6 7 8 9 10.

Here's a random example:

They were all pretty boring. But then I found something strange. Thumbnails for a video that I don't remember taking. It was clearly shot from my bed at Jamie's place, looking toward the window. The room is totally dark inside, and you can only see the silhouettes of the blinds, the desk and chair, and the computer monitor. Behind all that, through the window, is the outside world. I darted my eyes between each of the ten surviving frames, trying to make sense of what I was looking at.

Every frame has a different view. The outside world was spinning.

You can see that after the sixth frame, the camera zooms-in on the window. You can better make out what's outside, but even with the zoom it's hard to see what's happening. I'll do my best to explain it.

In frame number seven you can see where the white fence of the backyard is split into two sections by a tan-brick post. Above the fence are the leaves of a big tree. In the next frame, frame eight, you can see what's just to the left of the previous: a gap in the trees and the now-uninterrupted white fence. In frame nine there's another different tree. Then, in frame ten, you can see the side of the north-east neighbour's house. You can see the frame of their window slide into view.

Aside from frame seven, every single one of these pictures would be impossible if the house wasn't spinning. I wouldn't be able to see the side of the neighbour's house from my room unless I stuck my head in the window and really craned my neck, let alone from the bed. In frame six you can make out a car down the road. You can't even see down the road from that window because the trees and fences are in the way!

It's pretty hard to understand what's going on when just looking at the grid. I wanted to be able to see it animated, so I turned it into a GIF. Hopefully this helps make it clearer:

I don't have any idea how long the video was originally, so I picked a random speed for the animation. But based on the filename it was taken August 6th 2023 at 8:23 AM. That was the same week as my bureaucratic fiasco and the weird version of the dream. The one with the doorbell and the woman yelling at me. The dream where I reached for my phone but couldn't unlock it. It could've been the same day. I never wrote down when it happened.

As you can imagine I completely failed to make sense of this. It defied all logic. After a solid week of frantically trying to figure this out, I eventually gave up because I got distracted by other life stuff. Once the confusion was no longer acute, this whole strange affair became relegated to just some fun story I tell to friends.

This brings me to the present day, and why I'm posting this now.

I have to bail out of Somerville again because of money problems. Jamie offered that I could stay in my room at his place again. We've got a part-time thing probably lined up in town so I'm pretty hopeful I can get out of this.

This Friday I'll be moving back to Jamie's place in Springfield. The plan is to tell my housemates the story when I return, since I haven't told them yet. But I wanted to double-check that there's not some obvious rational explanation I am missing. If you have such an explanation, please tell me before I embarrass myself in front of my housemates!

Also, after I'm settled I might be able to collect additional evidence somehow. I can't share any more pictures of my room because the mods said I can very easily doxx myself without realizing it. But if anyone has suggestions for things to look out for, let me know.

Like I said already lincoln1988 shared additional evidence to prove her claims. Me and the rest of the validation committee are satisfied with the additional proof. This additional evidence contains potentially identifying information, so cannot be shared publicly:

• Screenshots of Google Satellite and Street View showing the house.
• Additional picture thumbnails of the bedroom where the anomaly took place.

lincoln1988 also provided screenshots of the "file details" menu for the images she shared. These have modification dates consistent with her story. I've attached these since they do not contain identifying information.

Ok this is totally my bad. I did draw a diagram a while ago and I was going to post it but it completely slipped my mind.

Here's a general map of the house and surrounding area. I've drawn the position of my room in the house with a dotted rectangle. The black object inside is the approximate location of me and my phone.

Next I went and added-in all the camera views. I tried to match up each frame with the surroundings, assuming that each frame is equally spaced in the rotation to make it easier for me.

I had a similar thing happen to me, except it happens when my place gets really cold. I keep having this dream where I'm reliving this documentary I saw when I was a kid about a bunch of mountaineers dying on Everest. I always know what's going to happen but I'm never able to save anybody from their fates. Buncha people left and right dropping like flies to hypothermia. I can't watch that documentary anymore, too many bad memories.

Fascinating evidence. Here is my 2¢

One of three things are happening.

1) There is a real life explanation for the footage. Could be people moving things around outside. Any chance you were pranked? Someone could have put a television in front of your window. Also, rotating buildings are not impossible. Revolving restaurants are very common. But building them is not trivial and I doubt it can be made so discreetly that not even the inhabitants can tell. IMO we can safely rule that out.

2) The house, despite being a normal house, is anomalously spinning. I'm imagining a cylindrical rotating space-time anomaly centered on the house going down into the foundation. Even if that happened, it would mess with your pipes and electrical, and those would have to be fixed somehow. There is an "adjustment bureau" which swoops into action after anomalous events to put things back to how they were. Maybe these agents deleted the video off your phone, but missed the thumbnail. If that's the case, we should all be expecting a visit from them sometime soon.

3) Your phone "slipped into" your dream. There have been reports, even on this forum, of objects and people slipping in and out of dreams. This is especially common during "dream wars." These are wars between people on a level beyond even actions or words. These wars are played on psychic terrain. The book "Electric Kool Aid Acid Test" describes them well and how they play out. They are battles of will between group minds. Your situation fits the profile.

My money is on option 3. It is more consistent with your dream recurring. I would rule out option 2 because the space-time warping would need to happen multiple times. Anomalies are usually one and done.

Thanks for the diagram. Frames 9 and 10 are the smoking gun imho. You can see the bottom of a window frame shift to the right. All the other frames could be anything really but frame 9 and 10 are the only ones where I can actually recognize something actually moving.

I want to believe this because this is just so weird and cool but I'll put on my scepticism hat.

You could be misrepresenting the geometry and your room is actually looking south toward the street and then movements of the window could be maybe cars driving by. Or maybe like packrat suggested it is a television propped against your window or maybe a long sheet of paper with a panorama printed on it being moved past the window.

Elementary, my dear Varma. How many times did Taylor here dream of the spinning house? Enough for it to be a recurring nightmare. Enough for it to happen every night during a heat wave. Let's put the number at 10.

This house would need to spin 10 times on 10 different nights, timed perfectly to be only when Taylor here is sleeping. If it ever spins while she's awake, the jig is up.

All of her friends would have to be in on the secret. The neighborhood would have to keep the secret. The jig is up the moment it hits the local Fox news affiliate. Can't you see the red on white chyron? "THIS HOUSE IN SUBURBAN SPRINGFIELD IS BUILT TO SPIN." Any reporter on a slow news day would be chomping at the bit for this scoop. Lurching forward like so many zombies thirsty for human interest stories.

Like I said, anomalies are one and done. The longer something outrageous must go on, the less likely it becomes. I posed option 2 for completeness sake but it is also ruled out by this criteria. Option 3 is the real winner.

Hey @yolololo, I don't have any high-res pictures of my bedroom or the house because I have a habit of deleting my photos. I have some low-res ones from the NFRAMETHUMBS folder but the mods advised me not to share them, because they contain things that could pinpoint the house's location. I won't be sharing pictures from street view because I don't want the internet to know where I'm living.

I'll probably be able to take additional photos after I move in on Friday. I'll ask the mods for help with making sure those pictures can't identify me.

random question I can't get out of my head, if your room got so hot why not just use a window AC unit?

also also, I wanted to see a stablized version of the video, since the gif taylor posted bounces around so much. so I used my photoship skillz to align the layers and make my own gif. I also figured out a way to estimate how long it should be. based on the diagram taylor posted earlier, it seems that the frames correspond to 1/3 of a rotation. she said earlier that, in the dream, it felt like "About one spin every minute." so that implies the video was 1/3rd of that time, so 20 seconds.

Weevil's GIF makes it easier to see the lighting change over time. The way the sun moves over the side of the desk reminds me a lot of time lapses. Like the sun is rising. Maybe it's just a really long video?

There is also this thing called the "Sydney Opera House illusion." There was a VSauce video about it. Basically, if you look at something through a window that is far away from you, that something can appear much larger than it actually is. If you then move toward the window, it will seem to shrink. It could be whatever was moving outside was actually not very big at all. I think the quality is so poor that this could be anything. To be honest, I can't make out the car the OP claims is in frame six.

Never heard of this before, thanks! Also Packrat's and Aadarsh's ideas about televisions or banners in front of the window, that won't work. The TV or banner would need to emitting a lot of light to be lighting up the room so well. And nevermind that, it doesn't explain the way the light changes like Understair points out. I did some time in the film industry and my opinion is that either this is CGI or AI or I agree with Understair that there are objects being moved outside the window. The lighting changes can be caused by "bounce boards," essentially big white or silver panels that reflect sunlight on to the subject.

Wait. @lincoln1988 Wait stop actually.

Don't follow those instructions from before they're not a good idea.

That's a big mistake sorry.

Those instructions could cause whatever data remains to be overwritten so do not do it.

This is a very fragile situation.

The best solution is to remove the NAND flash and put inside a chip reader and dump out all the data directly. There's a chip reader in storage over here somewhere.

I figured out a way to stitch the frames of the video together into a panorama. its not easy since there's no actual window overlap between them. the desk chair and monitor are blocking things in a very inconvenient way. I have to guess by lining up what's above the chair in one frame with what's behind the mug in the second.

and here's a gif of the frames adding up over time:

you can see that even though there's no overlap, the pieces sorta fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

I was staring at Weevil's panorama off-and-on all night and I think I've found an inconsistency.

If you look carefully at the way light is falling on the objects around the window, you can almost see where the direction of the sun is. It seems to me that somewhere between frames 4 and 5, the window is pointing toward the sun.

Then I went and looked up where the position of the sun was in Springfield at the day and time the video was allegedly taken.

I measured out the distance between the sun and each cardinal direction. It's 1/6th of the distance between south and east, which comes to 15 degrees off the eastward direction.

Next I took Taylor's map of the neighborhood and drew on the direction the sun would be coming from in red. As you can see, it doesn't seem to line up with the direction of the sun implied by the video itself, which is seems to be directly south-east.

I admit that the panorama only gives a rough estimate, but if we just look at frame 6, the frame where the sun should be pointing straight into the room, there seems to be a little bit of sunlight caught on the lip of the trash bin in the lower left corner. That wouldn't be possible unless the sun is coming in at an angle.

Hello again. Just finished settling in.

Some strange updates but I'll start with the basics.

My roommates got a total kick out of the story. I put on quite the show for them. We loaded up my forum post on the living room television and I scrolled through the thread, showing off the pictures, animations, diagrams, and all you lovely people's comments.

Once I was done my presentation we had an impromptu investigation session. The lot of us crowded into the old room, making picture frames with our fingers, running around inside and outside trying to match-up what we could see in the video. We found some minor issues with the diagram I posted earlier, but it's mostly correct.

The most persuasive theory from this thread was the idea that yard workers outside were moving things around in a way that just-so-happened to look like the house was spinning. Jamie wracked his brain, trying to remember if the neighbours were doing landscaping that year, but he wasn't sure. Paula liked the "dream war" idea.

For the rest of the weekend people would reference my dream and make jokes about it. It was fast becoming just another weird tale in the house's lore. I really missed living with these goofballs.

One of my housemates was living in the room for a bit while I was gone, so I asked him if he'd ever had the spinning dream, but he said no. Instead he told me about his own heat-induced stress dream. He only ever had it once, but in this dream he was running around roman aqueducts trying to find shade. There were hundreds and hundreds of these aqueducts zigging around, crossing over and under one another. And yet he couldn't find a single place that was shaded from the blisteringly bright sun. When he finally woke up he was in a pool of sweat with the sun in his face. From that point forward, he said, he made a point to lower the blinds before going to sleep.

Walter wasn't sure what to make of the video generally, but he did have an idea about how it and the other images survived. I asked him to write it down so I wouldn't misrepresent him:

That brings me to the weird part. It was late on Friday. Me and Paula were hanging out in adirondack chairs on the front patio, smoking and chatting. Suddenly, somebody came up the walk and rang on the doorbell. I had my back to them, facing Paula, so I could only overhear.

Jamie came to the door. This person started complaining to him. Going on-and-on about how the house was too loud, that there were suspicious people running around his property, that he had to make a post on Nextdoor if he was planning a house party, etcetera. She gave Jamie an earful of that garbage. Had a bunch of other complaints, kept saying he "had to get his lean in order."(???) Just going on and on. It was pissing me off, so I just closed my eyes and tried to block it out.

There was something about her voice that was strangely familiar. It was so aggressive and demanding, it struck a nerve. I could see in my mind's eye her clinging onto our house, clinging onto the banisters of the porch. Hands gripped around the awning pole like all this belonged to her. She started complaining about some other thing I just couldn't take it anymore so I loudly quipped, "At least the house isn't spinning!"

That shut her up completely. She stood there for a while, apparently speechless. After a few more moments she stormed off without another word.

When I opened my eyes again I saw Paula's face. She was freaked out, stunned at what had happened. I asked her what was up, and she said that, after I made my quip, the person behind me blanched. Like she'd seen a ghost. Then she got really angry. Looked like she was going to beat the living daylights out of me. "She looked like she'd seen a ghost that owes her 100,000 dollars. I was worried she was going to bash your head in. I've never seen anyone make that face. Who the hell even was that?"

It was the instant Paula asked the question where I realized why the voice was so familiar. It was the woman from my dream. Ringing the doorbell and screaming at me. Obviously I can't be sure, because she never raised her voice to Jamie. But if I imagine it, if I imagine her yelling, it's her. On the patio demanding that I stop something I never started in the first place.

Behind me, Jamie answered. "The HOA president."

I've never met this person before and I had no idea she was the HOA president until Jamie said so. I don't know what to make of all this. I put on a brave face but I gotta be honest, this whole situation gives me the creeps and I kinda hate talking about it. It is hard to tell what's real and what's coincidence.

I'm about to go to sleep in my room again for the first time. I don't actually want to have the dream so I've got the blinds closed. I'll update you all on my dreams as I have them.

Taylor's phone arrived today.

The NAND flash chip was successfully removed from the phone without any damage.

Before the data dump can proceed it needs a socket adapter for the T48 programmer.

The adapter was purchased a few days ago but is still on its way. Tracking says it should be delivered on the 14th.

After that it shouldn't take too long to backup the entire contents of the phone for study. An update will be shared once this is done.

This is the most likely reason yes.

A hidden folder's name should be prefixed with a dot, but standard Unix convention is often ignored by mobile phone developers.

Hey folks, sorry about the previous posts. I had accidentally revealed too much identifying information, and so the posts had to be deleted.

I spoke with the mods and we agreed on the following update without revealing too much:

Hey everyone. I learned a possibly relevant detail from Jamie about the house. It turns out that he never purchased the house directly. Instead, he has rights to the house because it was built on land he purchased in a "tax sale" in 2008.

For those who don't know (because I didn't,) a tax sale is when the owner of a property hasn't been paying taxes, and so the government acquires the property and puts it up for auction to recover the cost.

So, Jamie purchased the lot at a state auction, but apparently the state's record of the land was out-of-date. In the early 2000s the lot boundaries in that subdivision were redrawn and no longer line up with the land Jamie purchased. The house, having been built after the redrawing, actually intersects with the old boundary that is on Jamie's deed.

That's all to say, the south-east corner of the house is outside of the land that Jamie owns. Which is precisely where my room is.

I resent being the one to bring this up, because it will only exacerbate my reputation as the local conspiracy theorist, but we should at least consider ley lines. heya peeps. it's a long weekend for me so I started working on a project to annotate the features visible in my panorama with those in taylor's map. here's what I've got:

you can see I named all the visible trees T1, T2, T3, etc, and lined them up with the trees in taylor's map. also the roads get the names R1 and R2.

while doing this I found some stuff that doesn't appear in the map. I gave these "features" names like F1, F2, F3, etc, and I've drawn what I think they are/where they are in red paintbrush. here's a description of those features from the image:

(F1) - bush in front of south neighbor visible in bottom of frame 2

(F2) - fence visible along east side of road R2 visible in bottom of frame 5

(F3) - side of east neighbor house visible in frame 8 and 7. top left section of frame 7 possibly shows window on neighbor's siding

(F4) - house further east down road R1, behind the car, visible in frame 6

these are in order of how confident I am. the F1 bush is obvious from the frame. for F3 and F4 I feel like I might just be seeing things that aren't there after squinting at the images for so long. what do you all think?

We found some minor issues with the diagram I posted earlier, but it's mostly correct.

I feel that the fence you point out makes more sense going horizontally along R1 instead of vertically along R2. I've been thinking that the geometry looks a little weird between frame 5 and 6. Maybe the fence is closer to the house, and this is a parallax effect?

The adapter arrived early and the data dump was fully successful.

The entire 64 GB of the phone's internal memory is now sitting safe and sound on an SSD and backed up to cloud storage.

After putting the disk image into PhotoRec, it came up with lots of results of previously deleted files. But none of them were the spinning house video.

Either it is not there or need to hunt harder.

There are some other techniques that can be used to recover deleted files. It will take some days to try them.

Hey everyone, I just had maybe the worst dream of my life. I'm not sure if it is relevant or useful, but I thought I'd might as well post it.

In my head I call these "two at once dreams." I don't know if anyone else has dreams like this. There's "World A" and "World B" and events are happening simultaneously in both. Projected over each other like a double exposure. Or like I'm seeing A from my left eye and B from my right. It's hard to explain. But both are real. One isn't more real than the other.

In World A I'm having the house-spinning dream again. Lying in bed, staring at the window. But it's clear almost immediately that things are going to be different. There are tons of workers outside wearing bright orange construction vests, and they're all scratching their hard-hats trying to figure out how to stop the house.

Meanwhile, in World B, I'm in a huge empty parking lot. This empty expanse of pitch-black asphalt, illuminated by a grid of thin grey street lights. There's a black tie event happening for some reason, with people milling about in beautifully dark clothes and pecking at charcuterie boards. I'm under the impression that I'm here to entertain. I'm in an all-white outfit. White shoes, white stockings, white dress, little white headband, just waltzing this-way-and-that. Twirling like a top between the partygoers.

So, there's something wrong with these people. It's like they're clay. Every time they touch they become one. They merge, messily. A handshake squelches flesh together into a bouquet of fingers. A kiss on a cheek is stuck fast. But hey no worries we're all having a good time. It's a happy night for these creeps. There's a dancer here to entertain. And I do my best to avoid them. I don't want to be merged.

Back at the house the workers are scheming. They've hooked a boat anchor onto the eavestrough and are heaving-and-hohing to slow it down. It doesn't help, so they start tossing life preservers onto the chimney like it's a carnival game. Finally they throw one end of garland at the house and it catches on my window. I watch as it slowly wraps around the house, criss-crossing over the window for each turn.

In World B it's getting harder to avoid those plasticine partygoers. They've merged into a big ring, holding hands (or torsos, or skulls) in a big ring-around-the-rosie. It's hard to avoid them because I keep spinning. I make the mistake of grabbing onto a street light. Left hand wraps around the pole, and my right is there to meet it. My hands merge together around the pole and I'm stuck. Spinning around the maypole.

World A. The garland is covering the house. This big long chain of fake plastic pine fronds is wrapping around our house and squeezing it tighter. Squeezing out the air. The house is deflating with me inside, and the garland has nowhere to go but to tangle around me. I'm the one spinning now. A bobbin collecting thread. I look like a Christmas tree. There's nothing left of me but a Christmas tree.

World B. The street light pole is gone. The party's over. I'm alone with my white shoes tapping across the black asphalt under the open starry sky with my wrists fused together. Hands are numb. Twirling twirling twirling under light-trails is this spinning dancer never stopping even without her audience. Even alone I'm not going to stop.

From World A I could see into World B and the other way around and around. Why do people chop down Christmas trees in summer? What's a dancer without an audience? When is this going to end?

The worst part was happening to my brain. It's not that I couldn't stop. I couldn't BRING MYSELF to stop. I couldn't CARE to stop it. Any resistance or even the thought of stopping sputtered and died in my mind. Even my personality was fading. What remained watched it all happen delirious at ten feet below and falling. Sick with the vision of a sick world in motion in the distance passing by to the right from north to west to south to east and back and back and back and back.

I woke from this, an hour ago, to my cold dark room.

A lot has been happening over here that I haven't been posting about.

For those of you who were around for it, the HOA president has gotten her way. It's my word against hers and my word isn't worth anything. Jamie said he'd hoped I "wouldn't cause any issues this time" and apparently I proved him decidedly wrong. Keeping me around is not helping his case. And Paula can't stick her neck out for me again her own situation is fucked with immigration. So I get it. I have to get going.

I'm moving out again in a few days. I don't have anywhere to go but I'll probably be able to have to figure something out.

Why exactly cannot @lincoln1988 share better pictures of the area this anomaly took place?

This question was answered earlier in the thread. Basically, it is too easy to determine where a photo was taken these days. The mods have a PSA here about how seemingly innocuous images can be easily used to pinpoint someone's location using readily available online tools. For instance, If any house in the neighborhood was previously listed on Zillow then a simple Google Lens reverse-image search can find it and report the address.

The video has been recovered. Or what's left of it.

It was found by some custom python code to match H264 I-frames.

It's a finicky method but it paid off. The code caught three videos PhotoRec did not.

Making the videos watchable required transplanting MP4 headers from an existing video onto the recovered video stream.

Doing so also gave the AAC audio stream, since the field offsets are the same.

The original filenames are lost but it is obviously the same video. This should be MOV1080160020230806082304.mp4

Video is very corrupted because there's a scattershot pattern of zeroed bytes in the payload.

This is highly unusual. Usually data loss happens in large contiguous blocks. Not like this... Irradiation.

I think it is still possible that all this is just movement outside the window. The video is so corrupted it's hard to see what is going on. Though, if I squint I finally can see the black car that passes by right before we zoom in. So that's something I guess.

I listened to the audio very carefully a few times. Aside from the yelling, I think I hear a doorbell? I'm not sure. I wonder if anyone with audio editing skills can make the audio clearer.

Because we're not. The universe abhors a gap in its strict and cunning ruleset. The only evidence we'll ever get for an anomaly is the plausibly deniable. The "real deal" is never going to happen.

We should be satisfied with what little we manage to get. It is not a surprise to me that the video is riddled with wormholes and barnacles like some decrepit undersea treasure. Seems what I was afraid of happening has finally happened.

I deleted the post and banned the user, but given that they called out both KF and /x/ I'm sure there are plenty more bottom feeders waiting in the wings.

This thread is becoming a liability to the forum as a whole. It is getting a lot more off-site traffic than I'm comfortable with and we can clearly see the results of that here.
