What's New in Slay the Spire 2

STS2 isn't just a remaster — it introduces entirely new mechanics, two new classes, and a full co-op mode.

💀

Doom — Instant Kill Mechanic

The Necrobinder's signature mechanic. Stack Doom on an enemy and when their HP drops to or below the Doom threshold, they die instantly — bypassing all remaining HP and ignoring Block. In co-op, all players contribute Doom stacks to the same enemy, making it the strongest boss-killing tool in the game.

🃏

Sly — Discard Combos

The Silent's new keyword. Cards with Sly play for free when discarded from your hand during your turn. This enables chain reactions where a single discard triggers multiple free card plays, creating explosive turns that can empty your hand in one go.

Enchantments — Card Upgrades

A new system that lets you apply permanent modifiers to individual cards. Enchantments can add keywords, reduce costs, or amplify effects. Unlike standard upgrades, Enchantments stack — a single card can hold multiple Enchantments, creating unique combinations every run.

🤝

4-Player Online Co-op

Slay the Spire 2 introduces full online co-op for up to 4 players. Each player builds their own deck independently, but you share the same map and fight the same enemies together. Co-op exclusive colorless cards let you transfer Block, double attacks, and share energy with teammates.

About Slay the Spire 2

Slay the Spire 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the genre-defining roguelike deckbuilder by Mega Crit. Launched into Early Access on March 5, 2026, it broke Steam records with over 430,000 peak concurrent players and earned an Overwhelmingly Positive rating within hours.

Built on the Godot engine, STS2 introduces five playable classes — including two brand-new characters, The Regent and The Necrobinder — along with major new mechanics like Doom, Sly, Enchantments, and a full 4-player online co-op mode.

The game features over 567 cards and 286 relics in Early Access, with more content planned before the 1.0 full release in 2027. Current price: $24.99 on Steam.

Whether you're a veteran of the original Slay the Spire or a newcomer to the genre, STS2 offers hundreds of hours of replayability. Each run is unique — different cards, relics, map paths, and Act Boons ensure no two climbs of the Spire are ever the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Slay the Spire 2 worth buying in Early Access?

Yes. STS2 launched with 430k+ peak concurrent players and an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam. The Early Access version already contains 567 cards, 286 relics, 5 classes, and full co-op — more content than many finished games.

How many classes are in Slay the Spire 2?

Five classes: Ironclad, Silent, and Defect return from the original game, joined by two brand-new classes — The Regent (a cosmic ruler who crafts cards mid-combat) and The Necrobinder (a lich who stacks Doom for instant kills).

Does Slay the Spire 2 have co-op multiplayer?

Yes. STS2 supports up to 4 players in online co-op. Each player builds their own deck independently, but you share the same map and fight the same enemies together. Co-op exclusive cards let you interact with teammates.

What is the Doom mechanic in Slay the Spire 2?

Doom is the Necrobinder's signature mechanic. Stack Doom on an enemy — when their HP drops to or below the Doom value, they are instantly killed. It bypasses Block and remaining HP, making it the most powerful boss-killing tool in the game.

What is the Sly mechanic in Slay the Spire 2?

Sly is the Silent's new keyword. Cards with Sly play for free when discarded from your hand during your turn. This enables chain combos where discarding one card triggers a cascade of free plays.

How is Slay the Spire 2 different from the original?

STS2 adds two new classes (Regent, Necrobinder), new mechanics (Doom, Sly, Enchantments, Act Boons), full 4-player co-op, and a rebuilt engine (Godot). The core deckbuilding roguelike loop is preserved but significantly expanded.
