Moguri Mod

Final Fantasy IX Recreated

Moguri Mod is a faithful revamp of Final Fantasy 9 (on Steam), aided by AI (ESRGAN and Stable Diffusion). It makes backgrounds more detailed, highres, cleaner and less noisy, while respecting the original art.

It is aimed to first time players and veterans alike. It restores a lot of what made the charm of the original PSX game.

It is based on Memoria mod, which brings a mountain of features and polish.

Moguri

  • HD backgrounds (aided by AI and polished by hand)

  • Manual redraw of all 11k layer edges and area names

  • HD textures (worldmap, NPC, monsters, battles, UI elements...)

  • Matching background FMVs

Memoria

  • Launcher with settings + mod manager + model viewer

  • A huge list of bugfixes, cheats, skips and QoL options

  • High framerate (30 / 60 / 120 fps)

  • 16:9/16:10 Widescreen (where possible)

  • Smooth camera

  • Rendering and sound improvements

  • Alternative modes for battles (turn based...)

  • ...and cards (Triple Triad...)

  • Original PSX font

  • PSX behaviors / features restored (UI, textures, randomness...)

  • Modding base for most other mods

  • More information on the project's github

You have the option to download Moguri 30 fps FMVs from the Mod Manager.

This is a fluidification of the FMVs in the game, from 15 frames/seconds to 30, using AI (DAIN). This is not part of the main mod anymore, as it is pretty heavy and can seem a wonky in some places.

Alternative orchestral soundtrack

Moguri Mod used to comes with 13 (optional) orchestrated tracks made by Pontus Hultgren, the soundtrack is now a separate mod that you can download from the Mod Manager. You can listen to more of his work on his youtube channel.
