It's a sad time for Star Trek fans as the end of the current franchise on Paramount+ is official. Just a few years ago, Star Trek had five active TV series, with Star Trek: Starfleet Academy joining the lineup in January 2026. Today, every single Star Trek series has been canceled, and now, it is truly the end of the last two remaining shows, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds filmed its fifth and final season in the fall of 2025, wrapping just before Christmas. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was canceled by Paramount+ less than two weeks after season 1's finale premiered. However, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy wrapped filming its second and final season at the end of February.

TrekCentral reports that the sets for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy are now being torn down. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was filmed at the Star Trek Stage at Pinewood Studios Toronto. There will be a local online auction for parts of the set on Friday.

Additionally, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' sets are also being taken down. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was filmed at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy boasted the largest sets ever built for Star Trek. The demolition of Starfleet Academy's stunning sets includes the loss of the multi-level atrium, which had the Starfleet Wall of Heroes, the USS Athena's bridge, and the classrooms.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' sets were also gorgeous, and the destruction of those sets includes the loss of the USS Enterprise bridge, Captain Pike's ready room, the Science Lab, and Captain Pike's quarters with his plush kitchen and fireplace.

Starfleet Academy Atrium

During the 53rd annual Saturn Awards in March, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds executive producer and co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers said that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' sets were in storage, giving hope that the spinoff about Captain James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley), Star Trek: Year One, could happen. Those hopes are now dashed with the Enterprise sets being torn down.

Meanwhile, an online petition to save Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has topped 42,000 signatures. Unfortunately, the USS Athena's sets being torn down means that there's no chance Paramount+ could reverse course and greenlight Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 3.

There is no Star Trek in production or greenlit for the first time in nearly a decade, and the sets for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy coming down means it's truly the end of an era. However, both Star Trek series still have seasons yet to premiere.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 has 10 episodes, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds seasons 4 and 5, totaling 16 episodes, are banked. So there will still be new Star Trek to watch on Paramount+ in 2026 and 2027, even as some of the most stunning sets Star Trek ever filmed in will soon be no more.
