What we do

We aim to create solutions that help reduce plastic waste at scale. Machines, workspace, software, material research, etc. All open source, free, and accessible to anyone in the world. Here some of the things we developed:

Knowledge that empowers thousands recyclers around the world

1.Impact that scales

We enable people in locations where conventional recycling can't reach, from remote islands to the Himalayas!

2. Really worldwide

Your money doesn't support just one organisation or recycling team. It helps thousands of people to recycle plastic around the world

3. Radical openness

You can follow us in videos since our first development 10 years ago. Every tool we developed and struggle we had.

about

An honest and transparent look
at where we are at

What started over 10 years ago as my graduation project grew into something much bigger than I ever expected. Today, people all over the world use the tools, share knowledge, and build their own recycling setups, from cities to remote places.

The impact is global, made possible by a small team, many volunteers, and a very limited budget. We share everything open source, have no investors, and are set up as a non profit to stay true to our mission. In recent years, we slowed down. Not because we wanted, or the problem was solved. But because we needed a model to financially sustain the work to keep innovating.

The community we’ve grown so far is just the beginning. There is lots more work to do. With memberships, we can build a stronger foundation, grow a dedicated team, and keep developing many more long term solutions to reduce plastic waste around the world. The more people joining the bigger the projects we can do.

If you believe in this work,
this is how you can be part of it.

what's next

Everything above already exists, free, because people funded it. Whatever comes next is still locked. We can unlock this with enough members supporting.

Develop plastic alternatives

Recycling is part of the answer. But sometimes replacing plastic is better. We want to develop open-source biodegradable alternatives, tested, documented, and free for anyone to use. Then build a global network of suppliers who can produce them locally. The same way Precious Plastic spread. One workshop at a time, everywhere.

Unlock more plastic to recycle

Most plastic never gets recycled. Industry only handles the types that are profitable at scale, everything else gets ignored. Our global network of small-scale recyclers can pick up what the industry leaves behind. But we first need a big material research to figure out what to do for each material

Make it easier to participate

Many people want to recycle but don't know where to take their plastic. We want to fix that,  better tools to find local drop-off points, and stronger connections between the people collecting and the workspaces doing the recycling.

Common questions

What do I get as a member?

You fund open-source tools that reach thousands, that's the main thing. You also get a voting right on where we go next, access to the community space, and the good feeling of backing something real.

Where does my money go?

Straight into the work: developing better machines, researching the plastics no one else will touch, running the online community and support recyclers around the world. We're a small team, not a big organisation with a big overhead.

Do I need to be a recycler to join?

Not at all. Some members build machines, some collect waste, some do research. Plenty just believe in the mission and want to make it possible for others. All of it counts.

Is everything you share really free?

Yes. Every machine design, blueprint, tutorial and business plan is open-source and free to download. Always has been, always will be. Members are what keep it that way.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. It's a monthly membership, no lock-in. Stay as long as it feels worth it.
