FAQ

How do I create Effects on Endless?

Use the Playground to describe effects without coding. An effect is generated, tested and provided ready-to-use in just a few minutes. Alternatively code effects using C++ and our open source repo or your own code. Find the open source repo here. For a step by step guide setting up your Endless for open source programming watch this video.

How do I get started with the Playground?

Create a Polyend ID if you don’t have an account and register your Endless. Registered owners of Endless can access to the Playground here.

Can I use the Playground if I don’t own Endless?

No. We understand that people may want to try the Playground before buying, however the Playground is accessible only to registered Endless owners to keep performance reliable.

What do I get with the Pedal?

2000 Playground tokens and one blank plate comes with each pedal. More plates can be ordered from Polyend.

More plates can be ordered directly at polyend.com. Find plates in the product section of the website. Each effect with an available plate has an option to order it next to the download for the plate.

Can I create my own front Plate or Enclosure?

Yes, specs to print your own enclosures and front plates are coming soon.

Can you make an original Plate for an effect I designed?

We would like to. We are exploring the development of a system to allow for the design and purchase of your own custom plates, but a threshold for demand must be reached before Polyend’s investment in a custom plate creation system is feasible.

Why is the Endless Playground in Beta?

The playground is a completely new way of designing effects that we continue to refine. New features for Playground are planned before being finalized and sometimes you can get unwanted results.

Does it cost anything to download Community Effects?

No. Anything shared with the community is free to download. Polyend will regularly add new effects. You own what you create, so you can sell patches instead of sharing them freely.

What specific AI model or architecture powers the Playground text-to-effect system?

Playground builds on a large library of DSP algorithms our team has developed over many years. The AI layer interprets your prompt, then combines or adapts these building blocks to produce new effects.

Under the hood, multiple specialised agents handle different steps for parsing your request, selecting the right algorithms, generating code, and running automated tests during and after creation. We also designed the infrastructure to stay flexible about AI providers, so we can evaluate different models over time and choose the best balance of quality, reliability, and cost as the technology evolves.

How are copyright, licensing, and consent handled in assembling the training data?

Our DSP algorithms are proprietary code developed by Polyend. The AI layer is used mainly to interpret prompts and generate code that combines or adapts these internal building blocks. When external AI models are accessed via API, their underlying training data is managed by the respective provider. When open-source components are used, we follow the relevant licensing requirements.
For external AI models accessed through APIs, the training data and model training processes are handled by the providers themselves. We use these models strictly through their official interfaces and within their terms of service.

Have you estimated the energy usage associated with each generated effect?

Polyend has spent years building an environmentally responsible operation. We’re now almost 100% energy self-sufficient thanks to solar power and heat pumps. Our R&D, assembly, warehouse, and server infrastructure are all located under one roof, which helps reduce overall energy use as well. We’ll make a video tour showing how we do it soon!

It’s probably impossible to calculate the exact energy usage for each generated effect, but we are actively working to offset not only that usage, but our company’s overall energy footprint.

How much does it cost to make effects?

If you are a programmer, it doesn’t cost a dime. If you want to use the Playground, it depends on the complexity of the effect and the number of iterations. A simple delay could cost $1.00 or $2.00, whereas a complex granular looper might cost up to $5.00. 2000 Tokens($20 of Tokens) come with the purchase of a new Endless.

I bought Endless used. Do I still get Free Tokens?

No, Endless comes with tokens only for new purchases.

We felt this was the best option for our users. No subscriptions, no Cloud, no monthly fee. Pay to use it if you need it.
