How it works
Every animal is a real species and the game board is the real world, so your collection is whatever genuinely lives around you.
1 · Photograph
Spot any real animal, a beetle, a gull, a deer, and photograph it in the app, from a respectful distance. Animalis identifies the species on the spot.
2 · Battle
Take it on in a turn-based battle with your team. Every species has its own moves and matchups.
3 · Capture
Throw a Net to capture it. It joins your team and your encyclopedia, with its real taxonomy, habitat and conservation status.

Are the animals real?
Yes. Every animal in Animalis is a real species, identified from your photo. Your collection reflects whatever genuinely lives where you are.
How many animals are in the game?
Animalis identifies the animal in your photo, so any real species you can photograph can be caught, from beetles and garden birds to sharks and crocodiles. Players have found over 2,100 species so far, across 170 orders of the animal kingdom, and the number grows with every catch.
What is this globe showing?
Real captures by real players around the world, each shown with the animal's in-game icon at an approximate location, plus every gym currently held by a player. It updates every few minutes.
What are gyms?
Gyms are real parks and green spaces. Beat the defending team and the gym is yours to defend with your own animals. Holding one earns Leaves (the in-game currency) every day, plus the stake of any challenger your team beats, and puts it on the globe above.
